The waxcap season is about to begin, and we are holding another refresher training day to help volunteers prepare for this year’s surveys. Please note that this event is similar to the one we have had on the 8th of October, we just provide it once again for those members who were not able to join that time.

Waxcaps are not only colourful and distinctive fungi, but also important indicators of high-quality grassland habitats. Monitoring their presence across Purbeck helps us understand the condition of these special sites and contributes to wider conservation efforts.

This training session is designed for everyone interested in waxcaps:

If you already have some identification experience, it’s a great way to refresh your knowledge at the start of the season.
If you’re new to waxcaps, it’s the perfect opportunity to learn from others and build confidence before joining survey days.

Date: Saturday 18th October
Time & Location: 10:00 – 16:00, RSPB Arne Office

The aim of this workshop is to strengthen participants’ field ID skills and encourage everyone to get involved in recording. Following the training, there will be multiple survey days on different days of the week, and we hope that those attending will join some of these.
