The Purbeck Natural History Forum (PNHF), in collaboration with the Dorset Environmental Record Centre (DERC), is hosting its first Lichen Identification Field Training. This session follows the Lichen ID Workshop held on Saturday, 15th March, providing an opportunity to apply and refine the identification skills learned during the workshop.

The training will be led by Bryan Edwards, an ecologist at DERC with extensive expertise on lichen identification.

What to Expect?

Participants will visit one or more locations in the Purbeck area to search for and identify lichens with a primary focus on Cladonia species (Reindeer lichens).  This hands-on field session is designed to help improve practical identification skills and encourage further recording of these fascinating species.

Event Details

  • Date: Wednesday, 19th March
  • Location: To be confirmed, but all sites will be within the Purbeck area
