Large marsh grasshopper is one of the target species for monitoring within the Purbeck Heaths NNR, and there are several known colonies on Arne, Grange Heath, Stoborough Heath and Hartland Moor. There are also a few historical records for Godlingston Heath in the central valley and western valley. I would like to carry out a widespread search of these valley mires to find out to what extent this species inhabits these areas.

To give you fair warning, the day will involve considerable walking over fairly difficult terrain. Please wear suitable footwear of your choice – wellies are likely to be the best option to ensure dry feet. Also wear and bring appropriate clothing and equipment for the weather, including sunscreen and insect repellent. Bring lunch and plenty to drink.

Please meet at Greenlands farm yard, accessed from Ferry Road on the Studland peninsula, at 10am.

For any questions about this survey, please contact Darren: Darren.Cook@nationaltrust.org.uk

I look forward to seeing you!
