Hi all,

On this date we will be holding our second Dragonfly Identification Training event of the year. In May, we focused primarily on some of the early-season species and generalists. The presentation from that session can be found in the Resources section. On Thursday 16 July, we will focus on some of the mid- and late-season species that can be found on our heathlands and mires.

The event will start at 10:00 am at the RSPB Arne office. Please arrive a little earlier so that we can begin promptly. During the morning there will be two classroom sessions with a break in between. The main focus will be on mid- and late-season damselflies, darters and hawkers. Kevin will also prepare some quizzes to test your newly acquired knowledge.

At the end of the morning, we hope to head out into the field to practise our identification skills, visiting one or two ponds at Arne. Please note that this will involve some walking.

For parking, please use the overflow car park (entrance: https://w3w.co/guess.employ.dating). From there, please walk to the office.

Please bring with you:

  • A notebook
  • A dragonfly identification guide
  • Binoculars
  • Lunch and a drink (tea and coffee will be available during the morning)

The number of spaces for this event is limited to 20, so please register as soon as possible if you would like to attend.

If you have any questions, please email me at Jasper@purbeckecology.org.uk.

Many thanks,

Jasper
